Braves Get Raisel Iglesias for a Pair of Pitchers
Every Trade Made from the All-Star Break Through the Trade Deadline
Padres Acquire OF Juan Soto and 1B Josh Bell from Nationals for 1B Luke Voit
The 2022 MLB trade deadline will be remembered for the historic Juan Soto blockbuster deal between the Padres and Nationals, but we also saw a number of other teams make significant moves.
The Braves acquired reliever Raisel Iglesias from the Angels for a pair of pitching prospects. Iglesias is a veteran closer with a 3.00 ERA and 1.00 WHIP this season. He should help to bolster the Braves' bullpen, which has been one of the worst in baseball this year.
The Padres also made a big move, acquiring outfielder Juan Soto and first baseman Josh Bell from the Nationals for first baseman Luke Voit. Soto is one of the best young players in baseball, and Bell is a solid hitter with some pop. The Padres are now the clear favorites to win the NL West.
The Yankees made a number of smaller moves, including acquiring first baseman Anthony Rizzo from the Cubs and outfielder Andrew Benintendi from the Royals. Rizzo is a veteran leader who can provide some pop in the middle of the lineup, while Benintendi is a young outfielder with a good bat. The Yankees are hoping that these moves will help them to contend for a World Series title.
The Dodgers also made a number of moves, including acquiring outfielder Joey Gallo from the Rangers and reliever Craig Kimbrel from the Cubs. Gallo is a power hitter who can provide some pop in the middle of the lineup, while Kimbrel is a veteran closer who can help to bolster the Dodgers' bullpen.
The 2022 MLB trade deadline was a busy one, with a number of teams making significant moves. It will be interesting to see how these moves impact the playoff race and the World Series.
