New Policy to Offer Extended Layover Duration and Simplified Application Process

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has announced significant enhancements to its transit visa services in Abu Dhabi, effective September 1, 2023. The new policy aims to provide travelers with a more convenient and seamless transit experience through the Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH).

Extended Layover Duration

One of the key changes introduced by Etihad Airways is the extension of the maximum layover duration for transit passengers. Previously, travelers were allowed a maximum layover of 96 hours (four days). Under the new policy, eligible travelers can now enjoy a layover of up to 120 hours (five days) in Abu Dhabi.

This extended layover duration provides transit passengers with ample time to explore the vibrant city of Abu Dhabi. Travelers can visit iconic landmarks such as the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, and Yas Island, home to the Ferrari World theme park and the Yas Marina Circuit.

Simplified Application Process

Etihad Airways has also simplified the application process for transit visas. Transit passengers can now apply for a visa online through the airline's website or mobile app. The online application process is quick and easy, and it allows travelers to receive their visa approval within minutes.

In addition to the online application process, Etihad Airways has also established dedicated transit visa counters at AUH. These counters are staffed by experienced personnel who can assist passengers with their visa applications and provide information about transit visa requirements.

To be eligible for a transit visa in Abu Dhabi, travelers must meet the following criteria:

• Hold a valid passport from an eligible country
• Have a confirmed onward flight ticket from Abu Dhabi
• Meet the health and security requirements of the United Arab Emirates
